Queridos amigos:
Por todos es conocida la contingencia sanitaria que enfrentamos a nivel mundial, debido al impacto que ha provocado en la población la propagación del coronavirus Covid-19, y los riesgos a la salud de las personas asociados a esta enfermedad.
SACO9, Festival de Arte Contemporáneo en el Desierto de Atacama, ha atendido esta compleja y difícil situación, postergando todas sus actividades públicas, residencias y talleres planificados para los próximos meses, reagendando sus fechas de realización para el verano 2020/2021.
Para tomar esta decisión, hemos considerado las medidas de cuidado y control dispuestas por organismos internacionales, así como también las exigencias del gobierno chileno. Es así que asumiendo los plazos más realistas, decidimos la apertura del circuito expositivo museo sin museo el 20 de noviembre de 2020, extendiéndose hasta el 8 de enero de 2021 en diferentes puntos de Antofagasta y San Pedro de Atacama, mientras que la exposición internacional Ahora o nunca estará abierta al público entre el 10 de diciembre de 2020 y el 14 de enero de 2021.
SACO agradece el compromiso y voluntad que han manifestado nuestros espacios expositivos asociados, científicos, presentadores, colaboradores, instituciones culturales, artistas, curadores y jurado invitado, los que han accedido a esta nueva calendarización manteniendo su compromiso con el Festival.
Por último, aprovechamos este espacio para solidarizar con las personas que se han visto afectadas por el virus, sus familias, amigos y especialmente equipos autogestionados de trabajo en cultura, quienes se encuentran en situación de especial vulnerabilidad. Hoy más que nunca, necesitamos reforzar las redes para asegurar nuestra sobrevivencia considerando la inacción del Gobierno hacia los trabajadores de las culturas y las artes.
Estamos convencidos de que como sociedad responsable, siguiendo paso a paso las recomendaciones sanitarias dispuestas en nuestro país y el resto del mundo, seremos capaces de sobreponernos a esta compleja situación y esperamos que todos nuestros pares logren superar esta crisis.

SACO Contemporary Art Festival in Atacama Desert reports:
Date reschedule – SACO9 Now or never

Dear friends:
Everyone knows the health contingency that we face worldwide, due to the impact that the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus has caused in the population, and the health risks of people associated with this disease.
SACO9, Contemporary Art Festival in Atacama Desert, has dealt with this complex situation, postponing all its public activities, residences and workshops planned for the coming months, rescheduling its dates for the 2020/2021 summer.
To make this decision, we have considered the care and control measures provided by international organizations, as well as the requirements of the Chilean government. Thus, assuming the most realistic deadlines, we decided to open the exhibition circuit museum without a museum on November 20, 2020, extending until January 8, 2021, at different points in Antofagasta and San Pedro de Atacama, while the international exhibition Now or never It will be open to the public between December 10, 2020 and January 14, 2021.
All the actions planned in the region, school without a school, residences, workshops, talks, panels and conversations have also been postponed for the second semester of this year, on dates that we will soon announce.
SACO appreciates the commitment and will expressed by our associated exhibition spaces, scientists, presenters, collaborators, cultural institutions, artists, curators and invited jury, who have agreed to this new schedule while maintaining their commitment to the Festival.
Lastly, we take advantage of this space to show solidarity with the people who have been affected by the virus, their families, friends and especially self-managed cultural work teams, who are in a situation of special vulnerability. Today more than ever, we need to strengthen networks to ensure our survival considering the government’s inaction towards workers in cultures and the arts.
We are convinced that as a responsible society, following the health recommendations set forth in our country and the rest of the world, step by step, we will be able to overcome this complex situation and we hope that all our peers will overcome this crisis.
